Nassau NAS: The Bahamas Between Flights
Most people connecting through Nassau are heading to an outer island. They sit in the terminal and wait. Lynden Pindling International is 15 minutes from downtown. Close enough to eat conch fritters on Bay Street and be back through security in 4 hours.
Getting out
Official taxis from NAS to Bay Street run $32 flat rate for up to 2 passengers. The drive takes 15-20 minutes. Uber does not operate in Nassau. Share the cab if you can. The price is fixed regardless.

US passport holders enter the Bahamas visa-free for up to 90 days. No form, no fee. You will clear customs and present your onward ticket. The process is fast. NAS handles millions of US tourists and is set up for quick processing.
4 hours in Nassau
Bay Street is the colonial commercial center: Parliament Square, the Straw Market (skip the mass-produced goods, go for conch salad from the women at the front), and the pastel British colonial buildings. Conch fritters from Arawak Cay (10 minutes west of downtown) are the correct food. $8 gets you a plate.
